OUTBACK ADVENTURES has been renting canoes since 1993. We are one of the largest canoe
and kayak rentals on the Allegheny River, if not the largest. We now have 80 Old Town Discovery 169
Canoes in our livery. We have also been renting kayaks for 19 years and have over 60 kayaks in our stable,
giving us the largest number and selection in the area. We are located at the southern edge of the Allegheny
National Forest, which gives you full access to the Allegheny National Forest River Wilderness Canoe Trail. This is important when
selecting a livery because there are no pickups, you end up back at your car, whether taking a 2 hour or a 3 day
trip, (no waiting for someone to pick you up). All islands are part of the Allegheny National Forest and provide excellent camping.
The river is dam controlled and remains floatable all summer.
ALLEGHENY NATIONAL FOREST CANOE and KAYAK TRIPS
We start our season in April and run through October. April and early May is the best time for the smaller streams that are only accessible during the Spring. The Tionesta Creek, in the ANF, offers excellent fishing, bird-watching, and abundant wildlife in pristine natural settings. This stream is also great for kayaking. During the summer months, the Allegheny River is perfect for all your outdoor recreation. The Allegheny maintains a perfect water level for canoeing and kayaking. The many Allegheny National Forest islands provide great camping for overnight trips. We offer 2-5 hour day trips and also 2 and 3 day overnight trips, all ending up back at your car. Our hike-float trips let you explore the forest by foot to the river, then complete your adventure by canoe. We also have available lodging, Tipi camping along the river, tent camping, RV hook-ups and primitive campsites.
Kids love kayaking!
The Allegheny River's Class I, placid waters, and our recreational kayaks, make it perfect for beginners. For a one on one adventure with nature, the kayak is a great way for the solo fisherman to get away, and fishing on the Allegheny is great. We have smallmouth bass, walleye, muskie, trout, and pike. Turkey and whitetail hunting trips are available.
TEPEE AND CAMPGROUND RATES
From our riverfront campground you can take a day trip and paddle back to your tepee tent or campsite. The tepees come with electric. Prices start at $35 per night for a family, $45 for 2 couples or a group of 4, and $60 per night for a group of 6. Camping prices are $18 per night for RVs with water and electric hook-up, and $14 per night per tent, or $7 per person (excluding children). We have hot showers and flush toilet. Canoe and kayak prices are by the trip, starting at $20 per boat. Free transportation, paddles and jackets are included. We can accommodate company picnics, family reunions, scouts, and youth groups. We are always happy to plan a trip to suit your needs. For a list of trips and prices see below.
THE TEPEE TENTS ARE VERY POPULAR
We SET-UP these tents for you. All you need is your cooler and bedding. These 18" x 18" tents are waterproof. They have a screen door and vents. They will sleep 6-10 persons comfortably. The camping price is $35 per night for 2 adults. The charge is $7 per each additional adult. Cots are available.
The sites are located on the edge of the Allegheny River. Enjoy the beautiful view while you toss a line in.
This is a perfect way to try camping without buying all the gear.
Also, great for the motorcyclist that has to pack light.
YOU'LL LOVE OUR FRIENDLY TRANSPORTATION
Pick up a paddle and journey back. A canoe offers the naturalist an excellent way of transportation, providing its passengers an experience that the early explorers and Native Americans used as a roadway through the wilderness. Escape with us.
